Website

TransLAB.URB is a heterogeneous and transdisciplinary group that works on projects related to urbanism based on social technologies, technological resources and the connection between art and activism. Among different techniques, we use approaches from Tactical Urbanism, Placemaking, Hacker Urbanism, Sociology, Psychology, Pedagogy, Ethnographies, Cartographies, Mappings and Desing of Civic Processes.

Since mid-2012, the collective has been involved in the creation, maintenance and expansion of distributed networks, with local actions and global connections, within the logic of connecting with agents dedicated to the production of open knowledge on the themes of Urban Social Innovation, integrating PlacemakingX, Red Placemaking Latinoamérica, Placemaking Brasil, Brazilian Network of Collaborative Urbanism, BrCidades, Segura A Onda/Frena La Curva, Civicwise and Jane's Walk.

From the focus on the creation and development of own methodologies that combine technical knowledge with empirical wisdom, different hypotheses were validated in projects and activities with communities in places such as Porto Alegre, Cachoeira do Sul, Novo Hamburgo, São Leopoldo, Campo Bom, Caxias do Sul, Gravataí, Rio de Janeiro, São Luís, Belém, São Paulo, Campinas, Campo Grande and Vitória (Brazil), Montevideo and Maldonado (Uruguay), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Lima and Trujillo (Peru), Valdivia (Chile), Ciudad de México (Mexico), Chattanooga (USA), Amsterdam and The Hague (Netherlands), Tartu (Estonia), Aveiro and Guimarães (Portugal) and València, Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona, Bilbao and Madrid (Spain).
