Jørgen Christian Wind Nielsen

Member of Danish PEN

Languages, first of all. Languages, literature, multilingual communication, language diversity. I have been working with languages for years, professionally, politically and in private. I am a board member of Danish PEN, and I firmly believe in freedom of expression and that all languages are equal and should be listened to. I am also a member of International PEN's Translation and Linguistic Rights Committee (TLRC), where we put focus on the kinship between languages, freedom of expression and human rights.

Behind The Scenes

Short description:

I am actually working on my online CV, see it here. I like to see myself as a language acitivist. But I also love my garden, nature, and the colours of the world: green, true blue, red and yellow. Often I go to Africa for reasons and I find the open spaces stimulating. I shoot photos of it all whereever I go, and I write a lot.

View from your window:

I am a city boy, but the older I get, the more I fancy the open space, or the empty square.

What's your contribution?

First of all I want to contribute with storytelling abut Danish PEN, about the work we do, also at the international level.

What brings you here?’

An invitation to Danish PEN to contribute in this magazine.

What's the most important?

The struggle for people to be able to express themselves in whatever language they wish.
